Being Funny with HaveTales-WillTellI'm constantly sad about not finding sufficient amounts of humorous works here. It occurred to me that, you know, maybe I should spread the word on how to be funny!
Since I've got nothing, I turned to someone who is pretty amusing around these parts. The thumbnails featured throughout this article were provided by `HaveTales-WillTell (or are from his gallery), so you don't have to take my word for it.

What do you find funny?
Above all else, I delight in cleverness. When reading, that often means puns and other forms of wordplay; with visual media, there can be the additional dimension of a character's actions mirroring or contrasting with their mannerisms, dialogue or accent.

Let's Talk about the Lit Community...Greetings all!

Almost all of us on deviantART want to know how we are doing. We also know that to get any element of an answer, we have to put a lot of work in ourselves. It all sounds very exhausting, doesn't it?
We would like to openly discuss solutions the community can enact from within. This isn't just "what can the CVs do", but what can YOU do too. We don't want to waste good effort on the wrong things and moreso, we want to try to encourage more of you to get involved as individuals.

Fantastic Feature Tuesday #42Please this news article so it will reach a larger audience!
This is a weekly feature of amazing literature that I come by during my
travels across deviantART. This is only a small sample of a vast amount
of wonderful pieces of literature written by absolutely fantastic
writers. Each deviation was carefully selected from a writer's gallery
based on structure, impact and word usage. I will never feature the
same person twice (though this gets harder to keep track of
now that we can change usernames), so check out these lovely writers now while you can!

Literary Compass - Vol. 9Welcome
If one is looking for Literature, you don't need to go far on deviantART. There is a large community of writers and a plethora of work to peruse. Featuring genres such as fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance, one would be hard-pressed to find an area not covered. However, due to the nature of the site, shorter works tend to get more focus. It's easier to quickly read a poem or a short story, and thus many of the feature articles on dA showcase those works. However, there are many novelists and serial writers among the mix, oftentimes fighting an uphill battle to have their works seen and appreciated.
With that in mind, I have started an article to spotlight some of those artists and their literary-worlds. The works covered in this feature will exclusively be long-form fiction such as novels, trilogies, etc., or fiction serials.

Baby Splendor: The Wise and Happy ChildMany years ago there were three slender children. Slender the young adult, Smexy the teenager, and Trender the kid. The slender children were waiting impatiently in the waiting room, until they heard a faint cry in the other room. They rushed in and found their mother, exhausted.
"Mommy, what is it!?" they asked, excitedly.
"A boy." She said weakly.
Another boy! The brothers were thrilled to have someone else to play with now. The doctor returned with a concerned face. The boys questioned his look. Was he okay?
"Your baby was born with eyes and a mouth. And he doesn't seem aggressive like most slender children I've seen over the years." He said.
"Just hand him over!" their mom said.
She took the child and saw he did have eyes and a mouth, much different than her other children. The baby giggled and gave a smile. She looked at her child kind of funny. The boys were wondering why she wasn't excited for a new child.

This is an auto-bio of how I became a mermaid and turned it into a job and how someone else can too!

SeparationIts 2:00 at the Slender house, and Slender is making Splendor his favorite snack, honey flavored pancakes, ladled in syrup.
"YAY! SYRUPY PANCAKES!" Splendor shouts, feeling giddy.

Welcome to WhitewoodHello all~
So, I've come to a point in my life where God has taken my art program from me and wants me to write. So I'm obliging and doing it.
I feel like this is some sort of crazy alternate universe, because I never write as much as I have been lately. It's usually all in my mind and I just draw scenes form that.
Anyways, writing and costumes have been the game lately. I've got a lot of work ahead of me on my fashion Disney line, but my attention is still set on faeries (no, Tinkerbell is not on either list)
Luckily, writing has not been so... completely faerie absorbed. The lovelies that grace this journal layout are my subject of focus. Mainly that long haired gal with the teapot. Well, being that she's the one who we follow through the story, I figure it would be important to know some things about her, right? And besides, out of all of the characters, her psychology is, by far, the most interesting. Blah blah, any whoo- we met an entertainment producer at Gaslight Gathering this

2. Please keep supporting each other - I know, I said that already. You're already doing that. But I can't tell you what a difference it makes. The watches I've been getting make me happy; the likes on my facebook page even happier. I can't emphasize to you each enough that you can make each other's day by just using the "Meet the Contestants" link to say hi to each other and gives favorites and llamas and watches away.

3. You guys have been awesome with the prizes! !Kymira12, `thorns, and two other deviants who I'm not sure want to be named have been awfully nice about this. ~CJWilde - an extremely, extremely talented writer - is offering critiques for the 1st place winner and a combined critique for 2nd and 3rd place (I think. She might not have time, I'll check with her). In any case, getting her attention alone is a really good thing to say the least.

4. So many of you have been promoting the contest that I'd be crazy to start listing all of you. Just know that I appreciate it, and if you need anything from me, ASK. The worst I can say is "no." Without further ado, new contestants that you should all cherish:

I hope I got everyone who sent me a poem the last few days. Not all of you have sent me a note with a link to your poem, and that's not good. I really need to be contacted directly to make sure things go right (and even then, I goof at times).
