Who Cares About the Literature Community?A few days ago we had a chat to discuss community issues and solutions (see the original journal for details). Huge thanks to everyone who came and raised awesome points!
It took 45 minutes for the volume of talk to max out Sta.sh Writer's character limit and this chat went for two more hours, so I'm just going to summarize the key discussion points, starting with big actionables for #CRLiterature and for the community.
I've put the chat stuff lower down as it's denser: the outside bullet is the issue, and the inside bullet is possible solutions (not necessarily in order, each point is really a response to the original issue). There is a lot to think about in there, but feel free to pick and choose the issues you care most about.

Sorry for leaving a lot of stuff out, but I hope you guys are too busy figuring out how best to act on what we discussed to pay too much attention

Creepypasta: Grimm RipperHave you ever been afraid of being bullied? Have you ever felt death was upon you during those times? Bullies...It's just something we can't avoid; They come, when the come, that's how it goes. But what if it was just the other way around...Like, the victim..Would torment the bully...?

Cooking up LifeToday I decided to make some Mr. Noodles in the microwave.
I put the noodles in a bowl, but they were sticking out. So I had to break them.
I put the water in the bowl, and of course put it in the microwave.
It took some time, because it took longer than i expected.
When I heard the timer, I would go to the microwave and check the noodles.
As I had to check and check, I noticed they began to get softer and softer.
Eventually when they were done, I took the bowl out, grabbed my fork and placed it on the table.
I began eating.
As I was about 60% done, I thought about how I broke the noodles to get it to fit in the bowl.
And then it hit me.
We, are Mr. Noodles.
We start off as noodles, very easy to break.
Then as we get older (cooked more), we get softer, and less easy to break.
Eventually we're so soft, we're not as easy to break like before.
But we're still breakable. Adults are still breakable.
No matter how strong they may seem, they are breakable.

Help :cI'm wanting to start a new story and hopefully make it quite long but I have absolutely no ideas. My head is empty :'c I was thinking of doing one set in a post-apocalyptic world but like....need characters and background stories o3o my mind can't cope with so much. Autism's FriendIn Boston Massachusetts, an orphanage held many of the children who lost their parents when they were very young. On specific child who lived there was very different than the others. She had Apsergers, a specific type of Autism, and the people who took care of her didn't know much about her condition. They always thought she was stubborn and aggressive, but her disorder was just making her stressed out. She would have many stims that made her look like she had spasms, but were expected with her disorder. She would always cry outside by a tree with her stuffed owl she would never get rid of. Her condition made her obsessed with owls, and the people thought she was sick and planned to send her to an institution if she didn't 'improve'. One cloudy, brisk day, she sat by the tree and clutched her owl.

Summery: People often wander why Matt is so emotionless.
Towns were always so small, and centred main story plots. It was as if all authors who couldn't come up with a single place in the world could pin point them and tag it into there novel making it seem important. They could be run down towns or the happy-go-lucky town that everyone flocked to in short attempts of escape from there own hell. They gave either: a darkest hint of rebellion and lost hopes and dreams, or the welcome cheery folk that everyone would prefer. These towns were always small and always seem to have to many people living there for really a good number, with there run-down or bright homes, brainwashed people that would all one day die and be nothing but dust, and the awful smell of smog in both relations of the towns. 2. We now have some awesome prizes. Plenty of people are donating points - many thanks to *Mrs-Freestar-Bul, ~hirakuplz, ~Love-the-peace. =pixiepot is giving a custom box feature to the first and second place winners. Please feel free to donate points and offer more prizes - plenty of submissions already.

3. Newest contestants:

Doesn't seem like many, but add to the previous and we're well over 20 entries. And this contest really hasn't been promoted all over dA yet, despite our best efforts.

4. A few have been complaining that the 30 word limit of the contest is too constraining. I feel your pain; I tend to write with more words. Still, there are masterpieces of short poetry all over. Some very famous examples:

I do request if you like any of those poems to spread the word about them via facebook or twitter or what have you. Part of the point of this contest was to see how much could be accomplished with just a few words.

On another note, I am looking for many more facebook likes for my work. Many thanks to !letterjak & *Shannon-Sweeney for being two during this contest to give me that support. I realize others of you on dA have been so gracious, as well as 2 others who I can't identify at the moment. Believe me, I'm thankful.

Yeah, there's a second place prize. I'm thinking of giving out a bunch of honorable mentions as the points accumulate. Third place is probably something I should establish, though, given the number of entries so far.

The idea of honourable mentions is very kind of you; but yes, I would recommend establishing a third place, also. If you do so, I would love to give two critiques to the first place winner and one critique to both the second and third places winners. Would that be alright?
