"Thanks for the watch,"
then nothing else.
Polite, meaningless words.
Of course we know
not every stroke can be stared at,
not every noun can be analyzed.

Not every one can be friends.

I remember giving treats
to an old, deaf, ailing dog.
I remember bearing its smell
in order to pet it.
A cat saw this. The cat would
jump in front of me,
trying to get my leg to rub
against its fur.

Animals may not know to be grateful,
but they don't take for granted
what is good.

It needed to be said. Probably needs to be said louder. Yeah, this took 5 minutes.

I'm very happy with "We see the sky where it is skyless." That's a bit more serious. A teeny bit.

I get the source of this frustration, I've felt more and more that people are clamoring for attention, but aren't looking for other's are and especially to appreciate other's art. I've felt that those who get to the top, the elite, here arent trying to help others but keep at the top. It feels passive-aggressively competitive...
Not that DA is bad, it's a great place for art of all kinds, and the community, in general, is accepting, it's just when it comes down to individual interaction that it breaks down usually.

I'm not responding directly to ~shinonaru's comment. It's indicative of the attitude which created the problem I'm writing about and should be displayed.

I really like how I'm cursed out angrily for bringing up an issue. There's more than ungratefulness at play here.

Take note of the comments. I'm in the wrong. Totally. There aren't people who have more comments than pageviews by thousands. They're totally at fault! They're just not... popular. Yeah. That's it.

I think the long term solution is that people need to use dA more than be used by it. I still have a few more people I can reach out to here, and I think they're worth trying for. But I don't want to get into a situation where this is the only audience for my writing. I think people have to reason similarly.

Maybe I am a cynic but this looks like pretensions gribble about how you want those on the internet be more like animals.

Seriously get over it. Who cares if you have 200 watchers while you watch 1000. It just means you watch a lot of people. They are not going to turn around and watch you.

And guess what, helping an ailing dog in comparable to clicking a button on the internet. Of course the dog is going fucking love you.

You shouldn't expect anything from clicking a button that so many has done before.

Sometime there are people like that. People who are too afraid to tell what they really feel. The same goes with what is being said here. If people would find more meaning in appreciation, maybe friendships and even acquaintances would be more pleasant and maybe even beneficial.

This piece has touched me, since it not only relates to something all of us here could possibly relate to, but it also reveals a thing that is so minuscule that we do not even care to think about, something we don't even care to acknowledge; the smaller things in life that could potentially change our way of life. I congratulate thee for pointing that out to me, to us all. You have indeed, changed my way of life, even if it is only something so small.

at least some people say thank you and mean it.
it's the people that don't say anything at all or don't respond to
comments that bother me. but then again, there is still no way
of knowing how much time that person has, et cetera.

what else do you expect?
most people don't watch back unless there's something
about the person/the art that they're interested in.

I'm pretty open that this problem isn't easily resolvable. I'm thinking long term of working with dA group to just greet people who are new to dA or uploading in a particular category.
