I'm not a visual artist, but if I get better as a photographer using this thing, I'll be thrilled.

Writing is what I do. I have written some poetry:

- "Enfolding"
- "Haiku that might as well have been purchased at Walmart"

But the majority of my writings have been criticism and analysis:

- On Emily Dickinson's "Our share of night to bear..."
- On the Gettysburg Address
- On "Batman Begins"

If you like what I write - or if you're particularly pleased with my comments on your work, tell me on the blog or here, and do consider bookmarking or subscribing to my blog (not the DA, although I welcome attention here too). I'm thrilled to be a part of DA: many of you have incredible work and I'm looking for the right words to express my delight with it.

Been quiet here, sort of active at the blog...

Sorry for being quietish - lots of you have uploaded fine work, and I hope to get to it. Right now I just want what I'm writing on done.

A few things I've written on over at my blog that I think are worth a look:

Dorianne Laux, "Break" - about parents' attitudes during the teenage years.
Emily Dickinson,"Be Mine the Doom" - a very beautiful poem, only 11 words long.

And from a little while ago:

Amy King, "The Always Song" - about growing up and intellectual independence generally.

Let me know if you want something reviewed or you want help with promotion - always happy to help, wish you guys would be a bit more friendly and talkative.

Hey hey, good to hear from you. Stressed. I need another professor on my dissertation panel and I would really like to hear from the other two on it about whom I should get. They seem to be in la-dee-da-dee-dah mode. And the writing isn't going so hot at the moment. There's a number of things I'm speculating about to get my thesis to stick. I like the thesis - I think it cuts to the heart of the matter - but I also find it difficult to account for every detail in what I'm writing about.

Oh, and there's a woman, and when you're my age it's like "wow, someone's interested?" and I'm like "uh oh, I think I blew my chance."

Whatcha working on in classes, how was the snowfall around you? I'll go visit your dA shortly, I promise.

My advice... that is if you want it :P
would be breathe first of all, your professors will get back to you and whenever my writing isn't so hot I use a tip my journalism teacher taught me: give yourself a time limit say, 5 minutes, and for those 5 minutes you have to write, it can be anything a make believe story, a poem, an article, thoughts running through your head but you can't stop writing. I dunno it helps me just push through writers block and lets you write without an expectation

As for the woman, just be yourself :) I'm sure you didn't blow it

Thanks! That's cool you've had a journalism teacher: I never had anything like that in high school (we had a school paper that was published 3 or 4 times a year. It would report on events that happened months ago, most times).

I'm just note-taking and reading at the moment.

Do you listen to Passion Pit at all? [link]

she was cool but journalism wasn't my thing, I mean I loved doing music reviews but everything else was just a pain so I quit after my freshman year and I've heard of Passion Pit but I've never listened to any of their stuff

Ah, no wonder Google didn't translate it.

Thank you so much! Your work is always really good, btw - it's fun keeping up with what you produce on dA. Keep up the good work!

thanks for the watch!

It's no problem. The nature pics you've put up, on a first glance, look pretty good. I'll give 'em a closer look soon.
